Yvonne David was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and raised there and in London, England.
Language and literature have always filled her life. Her diploma qualifications from the Language Tuition Centre, London, England, included Interpreter/Translator in French and English.
After moving to Florida with her American husband, she earned a degree in English and Organizational Communications from Rollins College, Winter Park, and graduated with High Honors. Yvonne has attended many writing conferences and workshops, including the Writers’ Workshop Program at The Key West Literary Seminar with Susan Shreve and Master Classes at Rollins College with Ann Beattie and Paula McLain. Inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honors society, Yvonne David continues to be involved in other literary endeavors.
A guest speaker for various schools, conferences, and libraries, she is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators and the Florida Writers Association. Yvonne served as a Literary Selection Committee member and Board member of the Jack Kerouac Writers-in-Residence Project of Orlando, Inc., a literary retreat for writers worldwide, and as a Self-Expression and Leadership Coach for Landmark Worldwide.
Her publishing career began with writing newspaper and magazine articles. It continued with the first of four historical fiction books in The Apple Tree Series, set in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, a series inspired by her son. Out of the Apple Orchard won a 2006 Independent Publisher Book Award and has been adapted to the stage by award-winning playwright Ellen W. Kaplan with several concert readings produced by Nicole Raphael in New York City and by Yvonne David in Orlando, Florida. Yvonne produced the Orlando Premiere of Out of the Apple Orchard directed by Tony award-winning producer Kenny Howard at the Orlando Repertory Theatre in December 2016. She plans to co-produce the New York Premiere of Out of the Apple Orchard at The Off-Broadway Actors Temple Theatre in September 2022. Currently working on Book 3 in The Apple Tree Series, Yvonne has now completed her second book in The Apple Tree Series and her Upmarket Fiction work. The latter novel is set in Paris and London, her two favorite cities in the world. However, New York City is fast gaining ground.
